The Need for Speed

We live in a time of speed. An era where pretty much everything we want to know is at the end of a search engine. We are told we can have everything we want faster, same day delivery and instant gratification galore.
Yet when it comes to our own lives and making choices, there are times when we may not instantly know what would be best for us. It may be that the solution needs time to percolate. And with this notion of speed interwoven into our everyday lives you can become prone to feeling very uncomfortable when you find yourself in a situation where you don’t know what to do and the answer isn’t coming to you at warp speed.
Truth is in emergency situations we have all faced, we have known what to do. Extreme situations call for our own brains and physiology to react in the most productive ways so that is not the area I am talking of here.
I am speaking of the decisions that can seem like an emergency on the surface but underneath all the internal mayhem of chatter, when the facts are laid bare, you notice that actually you do have time to sit with not knowing for a while. You have space to live and move until you do know. And then you can act.
So unless you sense the need to dial for an emergency service, the next time you feel like you don’t know what to do, realize that this is completely ok and normal and that you have the time for the answer to show itself to you and then you can move in a direction that isn’t in a panic or hurried state but in a more conducive one to yourself.
